The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published the Annual Safety Review (ASR) 2026, providing a comprehensive analysis of aviation safety in Europe during 2025 and comparing the results with the previous 10 years.
The review provides a detailed picture of accidents, serious incidents and the leading safety risks across the different aviation domains. It is an important data-driven input to the European Safety Risk Management process and the European Plan for Aviation Safety (EPAS).
The overall picture shows that, in almost all domains, the number of fatal accidents and fatalities remained at or below the average for the previous 10 years. This suggests that safety performance remained broadly stable or has been improved in most areas. However, the results varied between different types of operation, underlining the need for continued vigilance and targeted safety action.
For the first time, the full review is accompanied by a new six-page Annual Safety Review Summary. The summary presents the headline figures and leading safety risks for commercial air transport aeroplanes, rotorcraft and general aviation in a concise and accessible format.
