Description
AERO Friedrichshafen 2026 brought together 37,000 people from 88 countries and with more than 850 exhibitors to discuss innovation, safety, sustainability and the future competitiveness of the sector.
As aviation strengthens its role as a strategic asset for Europe, General Aviation remains the gateway into aviation careers, pilot training, technical development and emerging technologies. Across the exhibition, this was reflected through new aircraft, propulsion concepts, digitalisation and sustainable aviation solutions.
Throughout the event, EASA welcomed visitors to its stand in Hall A5, where experts were available across a wide range of domains including aircraft certification, propulsion systems, environmental protection, avionics, design organisations, air operations, flight crew licensing, maintenance, airspace matters, drones, cybersecurity, recruitment and applicant services.
EASA’s dedicated programme at AERO also included several key activities:
- EASA GA Conference – “Exploring Simpler Rules for Safer GA” focused on reducing administrative burden for small and medium-sized enterprises, improving competitiveness and discussing proportionate approaches such as declarations schemes.
- EASA Information Session with FAA brought together European and U.S. perspectives on innovation and regulation. The Federal Aviation Administration presented the MOSAIC initiative, while EASA shared developments on ¡Conspicuity and ADS-L technologies to help prevent mid-air collisions.
- ¡Conspicuity and ADS-L collaboration activities highlighted ongoing work with partners to improve visibility, situational awareness and safer integration of aircraft in shared airspace.
- ADS-L Coalition meeting brought industry partners together to discuss affordable “Be Seen and Be Aware” solutions compatible with future U-space environments.
- AERO Career Days & EASA gave visitors the opportunity to learn more about aviation careers and professional opportunities within EASA and the wider sector.
- GA Community outreach encouraged visitors to join the EASA GA Community and discover safety promotion initiatives such as Sunny Swift.
In addition, EASA marked an important certification milestone during the event with the handover of the Type Certificate to Tecnam for the P2008JC NG, supporting continued innovation and growth in the light aircraft sector.
A strong message emerged from AERO 2026: safety, competitiveness and innovation go hand in hand. Delivering progress requires cooperation between EASA, National Aviation Authorities, industry and the wider aviation community.
