NEXT GENERATION FLIGHT SIMULATION TRAINING DEVICES Kathmandu, February 24-25, 2026

As training technologies continue to evolve and new solutions are introduced into the aviation training environment, regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders will be required to adapt their approaches to oversight, qualification, and use. This workshop, organised under the EU–South Asia Aviation Partnership Project, will provide regional Civil Aviation Authorities, Flight Simulation Training Device Operators, and industry stakeholders with a platform to exchange knowledge and experience on regulatory approaches to Flight Simulation Training Devices, including emerging Extended Reality technologies.
The workshop will be supported by the on-site availability of a Virtual Reality–based Flight Simulation Training Device representing the H125 (AS350) helicopter, developed and operated by Loft Dynamics, with the participation of Airbus Helicopters. The presence of this device will enable direct reference to a concrete, operational example throughout the technical, regulatory, and discussion sessions.
The event will:
• Provide a structured overview of the EASA regulatory system applicable to FSTDs and FSTDOs.
• Explain initial qualification and approval processes, roles, and responsibilities.
• Share best practices and lessons learned from both authorities and industry.
• Facilitate dialogue on XR-based FSTDs, including regulatory pathways and operational experience.
• Encourage exchange between EASA, local NAAs, and industry to promote harmonisation and mutual understanding.
