EU-SOUTH ASIA Aviation Partnership Project

One region. One vision. One partnership.

The EU–South Asia Aviation Partnership Project (EU–South Asia APP) is a regional cooperation initiative that aims to strengthen aviation safety, capacity, and regulatory alignment across seven South Asian countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Implemented by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the project fosters long-term engagement between South Asian civil aviation authorities and the European Union.

Through targeted technical cooperation and institutional dialogue, the project supports the development of safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable aviation systems in Europe and South Asia. Focus areas include airworthiness and maintenance, flight operations, personnel licensing, air traffic management, aerodrome oversight, and the integration of sustainability practices. The project also promotes regional collaboration by encouraging exchange among participating South Asian states, while facilitating access to European regulatory expertise and international best practices.

Key activities include technical workshops, inspector training, peer-to-peer exchanges, study visits, and joint safety promotion efforts. These efforts help build technical capacity, reinforce shared values of safety and environmental responsibility, and support the adoption of performance-based oversight in line with global aviation standards.

By bringing together diverse national aviation systems in partnership with the EU, the EU–South Asia APP contributes to a more connected, harmonized, and resilient aviation region—laying the foundation for long-term progress and cooperation.
