May 2026 – Over a three-week period, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in partnership with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), successfully delivered a series of technical cooperation activities under the EU-funded EU–Republic of Korea Aviation Partnership Project.
The programme brought together European and Korean stakeholders across the aviation system, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening aviation safety and deepening regulatory cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Korea.

The activities covered three core domains:

  • Safety oversight and USOAP experience exchange, enabling detailed discussions on oversight frameworks, organisational approaches, and practical lessons learned in preparation for upcoming audit activities
  • Advanced airspace operations, including parallel runway operations and RNP AR concepts, with a focus on operational implementation, ATC integration, and efficiency gains
  • Aviation cybersecurity, addressing the integration of cybersecurity into the aviation safety system, certification aspects, and the operational impact of emerging threats such as GNSS interference.

The programme also provided an opportunity for exchanges on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), during which MOLIT presented its recent SAF roadmap to European experts, opening avenues for further dialogue in this domain.
Together, these engagements provided a platform for in-depth technical dialogue, exchange of experience, and identification of areas for continued cooperation.
The series highlights the strong and evolving partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Korea in aviation, and reinforces the role of structured technical cooperation in addressing emerging safety, operational, and environmental challenges.
