EASA Helicopters Flight Test Workshop

Building on the first edition in 2024, the EASA Helicopter Flight Test Workshop 2026 brought together the rotorcraft community to share practical experience, lessons learnt and best practices in the planning, management and execution of flight tests for certification compliance demonstration.

The workshop addressed a range of technical and regulatory topics, including Level of Involvement (LOI) determination, Design Organisation Approval (DOA) performance, RNP 0.1 AR operations, firefighting installations, ice and snow qualification, Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS), human factors and take-off performance envelopes for CS-27 helicopters.

The discussions focused on practical improvements to helicopter certification flight testing, particularly how to:

• Improve the planning and coordination of flight test activities between applicants, flight test organisations and certification authorities.
• Develop a clearer, shared understanding of certification expectations, including LOI determination and DOA responsibilities.
• Exchange approaches to demonstrating compliance in technically challenging areas, drawing on experience from actual certification projects.
• Identify common issues and lessons learnt that can support more consistent flight test practices across the rotorcraft community.

Through these exchanges, the workshop contributed to a better common understanding of certification requirements and practical approaches to managing flight test activities, supporting safer, more efficient and more consistent compliance demonstrations.
