EASA signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Clean Sky

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on 23 November 2016 with the Clean Sky Joint Undertaking. The MoC formalises and strengthens the cooperation between the 2 organisations and aims to identify viable combined effort and teamwork in all areas of common interest with regard to aviation research. These areas include aircraft noise, emissions, or virtual modelling for certifications. The MoC was signed by EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky and Clean Sky’s interim Executive Director Tiit Jürimäe in presence of Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport. The signature took place at a conference on drones jointly organised by the Polish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Civil Aviation Authority of Poland and EASA.

The relationship between EASA and Clean Sky experts has already developed and intensified over the past years. EASA provides expertise and advice regarding aviation research programming and projects focusing on aviation safety and environmental protection. Likewise, as sustainability in aviation is becoming ever more important, results of Clean Sky research projects support EASA in order to be on top of technological innovation in the field of environmental protection and safety.
