Airbus Single Aisle - Certification of the A321-251N

On March 1, 2017, EASA granted its Type Certificate to the Airbus A321-251N model. The EASA Type Certificate was handed over in Madrid by Large Transport Aeroplanes Project Certification Manager Giuseppe Scannapieco to Airbus Senior Vice President A320 Family Programme, Klaus Roewe and Airbus A320 Family Programme Chief Engineer, Pierre-Henri Brousse. The concurrent FAA validation was achieved on the same day and the FAA Type Certificate was handed over on behalf of Jeff Duven, Manager of the Transport Airplane Directorate.

The A321-251N, equipped with the CFMI Leap-1A engines, is the fourth member of the new Airbus Single Aisle family known as NEO (New Engine Option) which will continue to grow until 2018 with additional models. The Type Certificate marks the completion of a rigorous certification program aimed at ensuring that the aircraft meets the highest safety standards set for Europe by the European Aviation Safety Agency. The new model is now cleared for its first deliveries and ready to enter into service in Europe and worldwide in the next months.
