Description
Join us for the final dissemination event of the Diabetes and CaVD-PACE research projects, where groundbreaking findings on health management in aviation will be shared.
The Diabetes project explores new diagnostic tools, treatments, and technologies such as continuous glucose monitors and automated insulin pumps. It addresses challenges like assessing hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia risks in pilots and ATCOs, alongside the reliability of these devices in the aviation environment.
The CaVD-PACE project examines the impact of advanced cardiac diagnostic methods and treatments and supportive equipment on aviation safety. It highlights the potential effects of inflight conditions on medical devices and medications, with a focus on the fitness of crew members and ATCOs.
Expected outcomes from both projects include:
• Evidence-based recommendations for updating fitness requirements.
• Impact assessments of proposed amendments.
• Guidance materials for aeromedical professionals.
• Training and risk management resources for aviation personnel.
These initiatives aim to ensure safe integration of medical advancements into aviation while supporting the health and well-being of all stakeholders.
