Greener Aviation

Sustainable aviation has always been a priority for EASA. Through our certification and standardisation activities we aim to reach the same level of success in sustainability as we have for safety. The EASA Sustainable Aviation Programme streamlines all these activities to provide industry and stakeholders with the guidance and instruments needed to meet the challenges.

EASA Research Agenda and Projects

EASA Research Agenda captures the research needs emerging from EASA Integrated Risk Management System and from exchanges with Member States and Industry. The Research Agenda reflects the EASA strategic priorities of the Single Programming Document (SPD) and the strategic domains identified in the European Plan for Aviation Safety (EPAS). Stemming from the Research Agenda, EASA launches research projects in the area of safety, environmental protection, security and health.

EPAS -European Plan for Aviation Safety

Safety, efficiency, level playing field and environmental protection are key elements for the EPAS. Strategic priorities in the area of emerging technologies and concepts are confirmed in the EPAS and further developed with distinct items ranging from artificial intelligence, novel air mobility and propulsion solutions, to unmanned aircraft systems. The EPAS provides the list of required safety actions that have been agreed upon at the European level by the various Stakeholders.
