Description
AFCAC and EASA organised a virtual stakeholder presentation to launch the Study on Competition in the African Aviation Market, developed under the SAATM Project.
The study assesses the competitive landscape of the African aviation market and identifies the main regulatory, institutional, operational and market-related factors affecting fair competition and the sustainable development of air transport in Africa. It also proposes recommendations to support the effective implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).
The event brought together representatives from African States, Regional Economic Communities, Civil Aviation Authorities, airlines, industry stakeholders and international organisations to present the study's key findings and recommendations and discuss their relevance for the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).
The study was presented by its lead author, Prof. Dr. Eyden Samunderu, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session and an open discussion with participants.
