Information received by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during a Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUP) investigation indicated that there were non-conforming locking nuts, part number NAS1291C3M, lot number 1648-000, which may have been manufactured without the crimp on the nut. Locking nuts that do not have the crimp can cause the fastener to strip and/or the nut to spin.
