Previously name EASA 2008-63.
Information received during an investigation conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed Smooth Landings, Inc., also known as Always Airborne, located at RR1, Box 209A, Elysburg, Pennsylvania 17824, made numerous falsified maintenance record entries for inspection and repairs.
The investigation also revealed that Smooth Landings, Inc./Always Airborne:
• Assembled a Lycoming aircraft engine using parts of an unknown origin.
• Fraudulently affixed a Lycoming data plate to an engine assembled out of parts of an unknown origin.
• Overhauled several other engines without the use of proper tools, equipment, and
technical data.
• Performed other maintenance to include aircraft striping and painting, replacing aircraft windows and improperly balancing, or installing and adjusting flight control systems.
• Used improper hardware in component and part installations.
• Made improper and undocumented structural repairs.
• In many instances, applied body filler and paint to conceal aircraft damage.
• Removed parts from aircraft and sold those parts either outright or installed them on other aircraft without owner/operator knowledge or permission. These parts include avionics, propellers, engines, engine cylinders, magnetos, starters, and flight controls.
