In their Amendment 11, the Certification Specifications for Large Aeroplanes (CS-25) contained provisions aimed at improving the effectiveness of flight crew alerting systems (FCAS) in supporting the flight crew with the identification, prioritisation and management of alerts. However, this amendment and the following ones only apply to new aeroplane designs (i.e. new type certificate (TCs)) and Major changes to existing TCs.
The objective of RMT.0764, which will be conducted in two phases, is to ensure that FCAS designs certified prior to CS-25 Amendment 11 and installed on already type-certified large aeroplanes with high levels of integration and automation provide in the mid to long term a level of safety equivalent to the one expected with CS-25 Amendment 11.
