The first Asia Pacific workshop on flying at high altitude under adverse weather conditions is jointly organised by the CAAS and EASA with active support from Airbus and Boeing companies. It will bring together major Aircraft Manufacturers, Airlines, ATOs, the FAA and Civil Aviation Authorities from Asia and Pacific Region.
It will take place on 12-13 October 2017 at the Singapore Aviation Academy and will cover a number of topics related to challenges encountered by airliners when flying at high altitude under adverse weather conditions.
Topics will include: differences in aircraft handling characteristics at low and high altitude, hints on manual flying in turbulences or stressful situations, turbulence avoidance and how to provide weather information to pilots. Experience will also be shared on Flight crew training needs, be it e.g. on upset recovery, or more specifically focused on initial and recurrent type training. Experience with the implementation of Operators SMS will also be discussed and a panel will brainstorm on how to improve safety through increased sharing of data.
