The implementation of aviation security measures can directly or indirectly impact on safety aspects of aerodromes, air operations, and aircraft design. Aerodrome security, aircraft security, as well as cargo and mail or in-flight security are the areas where interdependencies are particularly highly visible and where any security requirements should also consider possible impacts on aviation safety. Identifying which areas of aviation safety are affected by security measures, and whether they are affected positively or negatively, is a necessary part of ensuring the safety of the travelling public.
