How to apply

Additional documents

If this is your first application to EASA and you do not have an EASA applicant account, you will need to submit a copy of articles of incorporation of the entity or business registration stating the company name, business registration number and legal seat of the company.

In case the applicant is not a company but a natural person, a copy of the person’s ID or passport needs to be provided. If the applicant’s registered address is not indicated on the ID or passport, and additional submission of a substantiating document is requested. 

A document that substantiate the STC holder’s unwillingness to apply for EASA validation or proof that the STC holder is unable to apply for validation (e.g. the company has ceased to exist).

Specific technical documents shall be provided directly to the person responsible for investigating your application.

Good to know

Scope: Validation of FAA STCs where the US STC Holder is either unwilling or unable to make an application to EASA and which will be limited to a single serial number. The following limitations also apply: 
FAA STCs must be classified as basic
Fixed wing aircraft and installed engines, if applicable, in the following categories:

  • Aeroplane ≤ 5 700 kg MTOW
  • Very Light Aeroplane
  • Light Sport Aeroplane
  • (Powered) Sailplanes
  • ELA 1 and ELA 2 Balloon 
  • ELA 1 and ELA 2 Airship

The applicant must be registered in an EASA member state applicant.

Important: Please note that STCs that involve changes which impact the aircraft’s noise characteristics are excluded from this simplified process.

Fees and Charges: In accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) 319/2014, the Agency levies fees and charges for all its certification and approvals activities. The applicable fee is currently set at 1 working hour per application and is charged in accordance with Part II.
