Through the ATA-AC project, EASA works with Central African countries and regional organisations to:
- Raise common safety standards and assist the Regional Safety Oversight Organisation (ASSA-AC - Agence de Supervision de la Sécurité Aérienne en Afrique Centrale) to become operational;
- Improve safety oversight and strengthen the available expertise;
- Develop an action plan for bringing the main airports in Central Africa up to international standards.
In order to do this, the project draws safety expertise together and sets up dedicated working groups to address technical questions. Its activities also include the provision of short-term experts and training for authority staff.
