Suspected Unapproved Parts Details
On August 17, 2018 FAA published a following Unapproved Parts Notification (UPN) regarding replacement communication, navigation, and electrical power system parts produced and advertised by VAL Avionics Ltd. without Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) production approval.
This notification encourages aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers, maintenance organizations, parts suppliers and distributors to inspect their aircraft and/or aircraft parts inventory for the VAL Avionics Ltd. articles referenced in that UPN. If the referenced articles are found, the FAA recommends that they be quarantined to prevent installation on a Type Certificated aircraft until a determination can be made regarding their eligibility for installation. If a VAL Avionics Ltd. article referenced above is installed on a Type Certificated aircraft, the owner/operator should have the article removed for quarantine and replaced with an article that is eligible for installation.
