Suspected Unapproved Parts Details

Information received during a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) suspected unapproved parts (SUP) investigation revealed that Dakota Air Parts International, Inc., located at 1801 23rd Avenue North, Suite 119, Fargo, ND, 58102, had listed for sale impeller wheel part number 23079946, serial numbers MW51835, MW51837, MW51839 and MW51840, that have been deemed unapproved and un-airworthy by the manufacturer due to incomplete manufacturing processes required.
It has been established by investigation that the manufacturer, Rolls Royce Corporation, Indianapolis, IN, has shown through their manufacturing records that these four (4) wheels never completed their production cycle and were lost by a freight carrier. These wheels, by serial number, have recorded manufacturing anomalies such as nicks, dings, burrs, handling damage, tool marks, etc., and were determined to be non-airworthy by the manufacturer. During the investigation it has been further established that Dakota Air Parts International, Inc., had listed for sale, on their website, part number 23079946, impeller wheel, quantity 4, condition new surplus (NS). These parts were acquired from a lost freight auction.
