The continuing airworthiness of type design (CAP) procedure describes how the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) handles, pursuant to:
- Regulation (EU) 2018/1139 ('EASA Basic Regulation');
- Regulation (EU) No 376/2014 ('Occurrence Reporting Regulation'); and
- Regulation (EU) No 748/2012 ('Initial Airworthiness Regulation' or 'Part 21'),
and on behalf of Member States, the continuing airworthiness functions and tasks of the State of Design or Registry, where applicable, and as specified in the Chicago Convention or in the Annexes thereto, when those functions and tasks are related to mandatory continuing airworthiness information for the designs that EASA has certified and validated.
