The Agency, in cooperation with the experts’ group of RMT.0595, will organise a workshop dedicated to the “Update of the Theoretical Knowledge Learning Objectives and Syllabi for the ATPL, MPL, CLP & IR, and assessment of students’ progress (RMT.0595)”.
The workshop is dedicated to various groups of stakeholders – the flight training community, competent authorities, and airlines, to present the result of the past 15 months of work of the rulemaking group concluded with a Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA), planned for publication by the end of May 2016.
The NPA concerns initial pilot licensing provisions, seeking to update the LOs for the ATPL, MPL, CPL, and IRs for aeroplanes and helicopters. The changes proposed to the theoretical training system should enhance pilots’ competencies, by introducing a new subject area 100 KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes). This new area aims at developing and eliciting a higher level of thinking in future pilots during their theoretical knowledge training, thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice. The transition period will be another topic proposed by this NPA and for which the feedback of affected stakeholders is much appreciated.
One of the main objectives of the workshop is to provide more in-depth information on the proposed changes, allowing a significant information exchange, and open discussions about the possibilities and probabilities that the new LOs, syllabi, and examination procedures will create.
Another main objective is to offer the participants the occasion to ask questions and share their initial thoughts, comments, and feedback.
