Dear Andreas, what we can and cannot do as EASA is actually controlled by the Basic Regulation, and we are not the authority for skydivers. We however did feel we should raise awareness and cooperation on this subject, that's why we organised this safety promotion workshop. And as you see, we remain involved...

Michel MASSON commented on Andreas Winkler's event in General Aviation
Michel MASSON • 5 years agoThanks for sharing, Andreas.
A communication and promotion tradition that started 10 years ago in the now closed European General Aviation Safety Team (EGAST).
Best wishes for this important Season Opener event!
A great opportunity to meet and interact with the Community and to provide safety tips before starting the flying season.Michel, former EGAST Secretary

5 years ago PublicIs this wanted?
GA-Roadmap
simpler - lighter - better, "taylored", ...
... and even more complicated for pilots/owners of Annex-I aircraft?Latest amendment to our beloved VO(EU)1178/2011 accepts flying experince on Annex-I aircraft to count towards recency requirements for both LAPL(A) and PPL(A) (see FCL.035(a)(4))
After facing long discussions on clarifying letter i), we recently learnt, that letter ii) in same rule requires ...
read carefully!
... any Annex-I aircraft used for "refresher training" as mentioned in FCL.140.A(a)(1) and FCL.740(b)(1)(ii) MUST BE REGISTERED in an ATO rsp. DTO.Is that what EASA believes will streamline Generals aviation? Each of the thousands of hombuilts, (the many Vans and others) have it in their certification: "not allowed for pilots education" and what about all those old Piper and Cessna and ...?
Is that really wanted or is authority´s understanding result of poor and careless wording in the rules?
Is there anybody competent to ask EASA? ...
... Thanks! -

5 years ago PublicBASA agreement and the consequences for FAA licence holders:
I am unsure I fully understand the consequences of the new Bilateral Agreement between the USA and the EU. I have received information before but it is still not clear:(1) where can I find the text of " The agreement between the United States of America and the European Union on Cooperation in the Regulation of Civil Aviation Safety (the Agreement) with its Pilot Licensing Annex (Annex 3)". I have the Technical Implementation Procedures - Licensing (TIP-L) , but the TIP-L keeps referring to Annex 3.
(2) The TIP-L will enter into force on 18 May 2021.
Does this mean that the rules in the TIP-L will be applicable for applicants as from that date?
Will Part FCL be amended especially for FAA license-applicants?(3) will the TIP-L be applicable in the USA as from 18 May or will the 14CFR Part 61 be amended first for EU license-applicants?
It would help a great deal if these questions are clear...!

5 years ago PublicI wonder what EASA's view is on the long-term perspective for the current aircraft fleet. For example, if I overhaul my engine because it reached its TBO, will I be able to use the plane for the next 20 years? Same for avionics upgrades. How healthy are such investments in the context of the Green Deal?

Michel MASSON • 5 years agoInteresting discussion, thanks fellows!
I was about to provide a similar answer: because the airflow the aircraft is facing is coming from below, the AoA increases with the airflow angle and the critical AoA is reached earlier. This is well illustrated in the image (video screen shot ) above.
Indeed worst if stick is moved back: an action pilots normally take to climb but totally inappropriate when approaching stall or experiencing developed stall.
See for instance the EGAST GA 8 Leaflet:
