If EIR holders seem to be able to get equivalence for some of the BIR modules and convert easily part of the rating, what will happen to those who are doing their EIR training and who have not passed the skill test yet?
- as BIR seems to be a modular approach with tests after each modules unlike EIR, what can be credited if one has not yet passed the skill test but the written test for exemple ? will they be some kind of equivalence for the theory in that case at least ?
- For those having not yet passed the EIR written exam but well advanced with the courses, will they have to enrol again into a BIR training course (doubling the training fees) for the theory ?

Devil's in the details but why not just calling ATC on a flight and checking the mode C readout match your altimeter

I have a question (and also appreciate the work that Dominique and colleagues do).

The list in NCO.GEN.135 includes:

(8) the journey log, or equivalent

and GM1 NCO.GEN.135(a)(8) says "’Journey log or equivalent’ means that the required information may be recorded in documentation
other than a log book, such as the operational flight plan"

but there is no requirement for an operational flight plan in NCO... (!)

SPO.GEN.140 displays the same confusion/conflict.

This is not the case in NCC.GEN.140, which contains the same GM on 'Journey Log' being ~ OFP, but actually goes on to cover OFP in NCC.OP.145 and lists 21 items it may contain.

Are NCO.GEN.135 & SPO.GEN.140 perhaps copies of NCC.GEN.140?

I can't afford to buy one outright and as I work away from Europe for 6 x 1 month trips. With courses and holidays I'm in Europe for 18-20 weeks a year meaning it would stand idle for 32-34 weeks a year. It makes no sense right now to buy one unless I could get a group together. I've tried to get a group together - had no expressions of interest so far.

Pilotaware now gives me many more (2 - 3 times) more targets using MLAT here in the SE of England. It has been particularly helpful in the last few weeks with glider competitions meaning there are more FLARM targets around, which it also warns me of.
(I also keep a good visual scan going)
