On 14 March 2018, as one of EASA’s GA Roadmap milestones, the Commission published Regulation relating to rules for the operation of balloons.
With help from the balloon community, EASA created a single document containing all rules relevant to balloon pilots and operators. It includes:
- OPS Regulations
- Certification Specifications (CS)
- Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) & Guidance Material (GM)

The rules for licensing and continuing airworthiness still need to be adjusted, but will follow soon!
