I think Just Culture is a challenge across the world. It is something hopefully that the industry can get a lot better at.

Massimo Plavsic • 2 years agoTo be honest i'm still don't feel safe as a passeggeri if i continue to read about bad practices (Just want to avoid worst expression) and people that admited that the manual and instructions should be updated!!?🤔🤔🤔 So i'm wondering if we're kidding as we're talking about and airplane with 100 and more passengers on the board and their lives that should be safe since the departure untill arrival, then after the famous words SAFETY FIRST,we can put on the tablet standards, policies, directives, technical comitees,Federal institutions etc.As a Quality Expert with a long experience in automotive behind some declarations i really don't know in what to still believe...market Is a master over and beyond any other thing and even AI Will not be able to change this kind of approach that Is on one hand very sad on other Is very frightening

Tom Velkeneers commented on John Franklin's topic in Air Operations
Tom Velkeneers • 2 years agoHi John,
with the increase of GNSS manipulation (jamming, spoofing). Is there any consideration being giving to implementation of "Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1048 of 18 July 2018 laying down airspace usage requirements and operating procedures concerning performance-based navigation". Especially past 2030 with the withdrawal of conventional navigation aids/NPAs/SID/STAR. At this moment we already see issues for example at Gdansk where RW11 only has RNP or VOR available with significant GPS interference occasionally requiring a tailwind approach to the ILS runway which increases exposure to runway excursion events. Especially on a contaminated runway. The regulation considers "Establishment of emergency measures in case of the non-availability of the GNSS signal" however this would most likely just lead to a diversion to a CAT 2/3 available location since jamming can blanket a wide area and can be unpredicable.
Kind regards,

2 years ago PublicHi everybody, one question on FTL/commander discretion: when incresing the max FDP by 3h, ORO.FTL.205 (f) is saying, „augmented crew“ is necessary. Does this imply that inflight rest is planned for this FDP? I ask because we sometimes crew three pilots on a widebody with rest compartment but without extension due to inflight rest. So in such a case is it 2h or 3h the commander may increase max FDP? Many thanks - cheers, Jan

2 years ago PublicHello everybody!
We operate Cessna C550 and C560, and one EASA FSTD is available only. The problem is that this year this EASA FSTD will be retired and no EASA FSTD is going to be available for this fleet.
I would like to know if it is possible to carry out the training in FAA FSTD because no EASA FSTD is available, if EASA can encourage FAA FSTD operators to certify these FSTDs according to EASA, or if training in the aircraft is an option in this situation (for us it is not the best option).
C550/C560 (not XL/XLS) is not a large fleet in Europe but there are dozens of these aircraft operating in Europe, most of them in CAT operation.
Thank you for your cooperation!

John FRANKLIN commented on Simon Scholey's topic in Air Operations
John FRANKLIN • 2 years agoHi Simon
This is information from the EASA FAQs on this topic - found by using this link (https://www.easa.europa.eu/en/the-agency/faqs/air-operations?check_logg…) with the search term "Reduced Rest". Hopefully this helps.
Question: Reduced rest CS FTL.1.235(b)(3)(ii), (see also ORO.FTL.235 (c) and (e)): Is it possible to reduce the 14h rest away from home base following an FDP involving a 4-hour time difference or more?
Answer: No. CS FTL.1.235 (b)(3)(ii) does not foresee a reduction of the 14h rest away from home base to compensate for time zone crossing.
ORO.FTL.235 (c) describes the conditions under which the minimum rest periods according to ORO.FTL.235 (a) and (b) may be reduced.
ORO.FTL.235 (e) establishes the rest periods to compensate the effects of time zone crossing.
Additional rest periods to compensate the effects of time zone crossing shall be specified in flight time specification schemes.
