Good evening to the rotary wing community. As a CPL, FI, FE and head of training in a small helicopter DTO in France, I'm also working as an ATCO at a regional airport. Always keen on learning and sharing all material and infos related to helicopter operations, especially VFR ones and those related to training. Fortunate enough to have been trained by and learned a great deal from Peter Gillies, former chief pilot at Western Helicopters (CA) and author of numerous, "must read" articles about helicopter training and safety ones published in former Autorotate Mag. European Safety Managers’ Discussion Group

After the large participation to the “Safe-IT”, the Italian safety managers’ discussion group, the "Safe-EU", the European safety managers’ discussion group has been established.
The Group is a closed, voluntary, no profit reunion reserved to safety professionals aimed at discussing and sharing aviation safety matters (aviation accidents, operator’s safety procedure and processes, manuals, risk assessments, etc.).

All involved in safety management may participate.
Many safety professionals (e.g. safety managers) may be the only safety reference within their company, and very often they wish to compare their point of view (doubts, analysis, hazards, etc.) with some other safety professionals.

Safe-EU has been created to allow professionals to discuss about everyday safety matters in an easy way, like being in a coffee room.
In order to have an easy and fast communication way between “safety fiends”, WhatsApp is widely used.

The Group may also create documents and safety material in support to the members. These may eventually be shared with the aviation community.
Safe-EU supports and may provide safety material to other safety groups and organisations (EASA community, ESPN-R, etc.).

MAINTENANCE CHECK FLIGHTS (MCF)

Good morning,

Safe-IT, the Italian safety managers' group, published four documents related to the maintenance check flights, in order to help the operators to better understand the regulation and to get in compliance with it.
• MCF Manual - Required for Level "A" MCF on complex motor-powered aircrafts
• MCF SOP - useful for Level "B" or on other than complex motor-powered aircrafts MCF flights
• MCF risk assessment - A starting point for an internal safety analysis
• MCF Vade Mecum - A tentative to clarify the regulation and the necessary MCF requirements

These documents have been discussed inside the Safe-IT group, but they can be obviously improved. Any comment, suggestion and correction from you is welcome.

The documents are open and disclosable. You can freely download them from ESPN-R LinkedIn or by requesting them at s.burigana@aeronauticalsafety.com.
