SECIMPACT project successfully concluded
The research project on the impact of security measures on aviation safety (SECIMPACT) has been concluded with the final dissemination event taking place on the 4th of December 2025.
Why is this project important and what did it deliver?
✅The first systematic EU research effort to significantly expand our understanding of safety - security interdependencies and to provide aviation decision makers with much needed insights.
✅Stakeholders’ engagement and interaction allowing to deliver fact based and operational results.
✅A comprehensive assessment of the impact of aviation security measures on safety, highlighting a mixture of effects.
✅ More than 60 recommendations, including seven specific tools and solutions designed to support evidence-based decision making.
✅ A practical impact assessment methodology developed for future use by regulators and industry stakeholders.
Among other elements, the projects took into account information security as a domain with a strong interplay between safety and security measures, in particular taking into account the Part-IS regulation.
