Impact of Security Measures on Safety: Certification, Licensing, and Setting the Standard in Safety - Where are the Security Impacts?
Online
16/10/2025, 14:00 - 16:30 CET (UTC +2)
Description
The webinar is organised to present an update on EASA's research project "Impact of Security Measures on Safety". This project has been implemented to better understand the scope and nature of interdependencies between aviation safety and security.
In the scope of Task 3, the project examined aircraft design requirements in relation to physical and information security threats, assessed the effectiveness of detection requirements for screening equipment in mitigating risks to aircraft structures, and analysed safety and security certification requirements with their interconnections and interdependencies. This analysis led to recommendations that promote a cooperative approach to strengthening both safety and security objectives.
This webinar will explain the work carried out during Task 3, highlighting the insights, analysis, outputs, and recommendations that can support a more integrated approach to aviation safety and security.
