SC-216 / WG-72 Joint Plenary & updates on Information Security Standards

The RTCA SC-216 (Aeronautical Information Systems Security) Joint Plenary with EUROCAE WG-72 took place at Honeywell, Phoenix Arizona on December 4-8, 2023.

The Plenary allowed continued work in the update of a number of standards in the wider information security domain in aviation, ranging from the level of the product to Event Management and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).

ED-202B/DO-326B addressing Airworthiness Security has been agreed to become soon available for open consultation while ED-206A/DO-392A with the aim of providing guidance on Information Security Event Management is currently undergoing revision.

When it comes to the next steps and goals set for the new year, two new documents are planned to be published in 2024 on the topic of ISMS and on end-to-end Data Security. Part-IS is proven to be a valuable input to the discussion on the ED-ISMS with EASA experts participating and providing their insights during the relevant discussions on the plenary.
