EU Parliament: Public Hearing on foreign threats to strategic infrastructure

“Critical infrastructure across the EU, especially in the energy, transport and telecommunications sector, is increasingly targeted by foreign actors. Using investment leverage, cyberattacks, hybrid operations and other modes of physical sabotage, such actors threaten essential services and democratic resilience.” European Democracy Shield (EUDS)

A public hearing on foreign threats to critical infrastructure was organised by the Special Committee on the EUDS, where EASA was invited to present how aviation is impacted with specific focus on: cybersecurity, GNSS interferences and drones.

Cyrille

Cyrille Rosay, Senior Expert in Cybersecurity in Aviation represented EASA in this hearing presenting those 3 key areas and the role of EASA. A number of questions have been asked around digital sovereignty, geopolitical concerns and preparedness for incidents with regards to emerging risks.

This hearing demonstrated that EASA is taking concrete measures and adopts a proactive stance with regards to safety and does not wait for political momentum.

Recording of the presentation is available under the related content below (The role of EASA is covered in 16:28:30 – 16:36:50).
