A series of five EASA videos entitled Turning Sustainability Goals into Action was published on YouTube on 17 February 2026. The series aims to summarise and present the various environmental aspects of aviation, including rotorcraft, while increasing outreach. It highlights a range of measures to address the challenges of climate change, reduce aircraft emissions and noise, and improve environmental sustainability for the benefit of both society and the environment. The series is promoted on the EASA Community Rotorcraft to inform the rotorcraft sector and broaden awareness of these important environmental topics.
Turning Sustainability Goals into Action
The Future of Aircraft Design and Sustainability

Video 1 – The Future of Aircraft Design and Sustainability (1:44)
In this video published on Youtube, Yvan DE LEPINAY, EASA Senior Expert Noise and Aircraft Standards, addresses the The Future of Aircraft Design and Sustainability through developing environmental standards.
Innovation is transforming aviation. New aircraft technologies are improving efficiency, reducing emissions and lowering noise for communities around airports. In this video, discover how aircraft design, advanced materials, new propulsion systems and international standards are helping to shape a more sustainable future.
From electric and hydrogen propulsion to lighter structures and improved aerodynamics, learn how regulators and industry are working together to bring greener aircraft into service. Find out how certification and global standards support continuous environmental improvement and help turn sustainability goals into action.
Overview of Aviation Sustainability

Video 2 – Overview of Aviation Sustainability - YouTube (2:37)
In this video, Stephen ARROWSMITH, EASA Chief Expert Environmental Protection, provides an overview of measures aimed at enhancing Aviation Sustainability.
Quote: Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our planet. Aviation connects people, supports economies and drives growth, but it also has an environmental impact. So how is the aviation sector responding? In this video, we explain how Europe and the global aviation community are working to reduce emissions, noise and environmental impacts. Discover how the ICAO Basket of Measures brings together technology, operations, fuels and market-based solutions to help aviation reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Learn how EASA is helping turn sustainability goals into real action across the aviation system.
Greener Operations in Aviation Explained

Video 3 – Greener Operations in Aviation Explained (1:57)
In this video, Ken ENGELSTAD, EASA Sustainable Aviation Officer, covers the subject of Greener Operations in Aviation.
Quote: Sustainability is not only about aircraft and fuels. How we operate flights also makes a big difference. In this video, explore how airspace design, air traffic management, and operational practices can reduce emissions, noise and air pollution. Learn how airlines, airports and air navigation service providers work together to optimise flight paths, improve efficiency and support greener operations. Discover the role of new technologies, sustainable airport infrastructure and transparent environmental information for passengers.
SAF Explained: The Future of Aviation Fuel

Video 4 – SAF Explained: The Future of Aviation Fuel (2:01)
In this video, Daniel BROUSSE - RIVAS, EASA Sustainable Aviation Officer, presents the subject of Sustainable Aviation Fuels.
Quote: Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is one of the most important solutions for reducing aviation’s environmental impact. In this video, learn how SAF can reduce emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional fuels. Discover how it can be produced from waste, renewable sources and innovative technologies. We also explain the challenges of scaling up production, improving affordability and ensuring long-term sustainability. Find out how European and global initiatives are helping increase SAF use and accelerate the transition to cleaner aviation.
CORSIA, ETS and the Future of Aviation Climate Action

Video 5 – CORSIA, ETS and the Future of Aviation Climate Action (1:56)
In this video, Joonas LOOKIA, EASA Sustainable Aviation Officer, addresses the subject of CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation), ETS (Emissions Trading System) and the Future of Aviation Climate Action
Quote: Even with technology, operations and fuels, some emissions cannot yet be avoided. Market-based measures help address these remaining impacts. In this video, discover how schemes such as CORSIA and the EU Emissions Trading System support aviation’s journey to net-zero emissions. Learn how carbon markets, high-quality offsets and innovation incentives contribute to climate action and help drive sustainable solutions. Understand how international cooperation ensures credible and lasting environmental benefits.
