ENAC Part-IS Implementation Workshop delivered by EASA

On the 10th of October 2024, Davide Martini, Senior Expert in Cybersecurity in Aviation, EASA as well as Gian Andrea Bandieri, Section Manager of Cybersecurity in Aviation and Emerging Risks Section at EASA delivered a workshop with the title "Implementation of Part IS requirements to the Italian Civil Aviation sector" in Rome attended by management and inspectors of the Italian CAA, ENAC.

The event, part of EASA efforts to accompany NAAs in their implementation journey, was opened by ENAC president Pierluigi di Palma and conducted in Italian.

ENAC workshop

Objective of the workshop was to raise awareness on the main challenges stemming from the implementation of this new regulatory package, so that ENAC can organise itself for the activities expected by an Authority.

Both sides of the challenge were presented and discussed. The internal one, that is the establishment of an ISMS at the Authority and the external one, that is the preparation for oversight of ISMS at approved organisations. Both have to be supportive by adequate competence of the staff, to be acquired either by upskilling or through recruitment of cybersecurity specialists.

ENAC workshop

Around 80 people were in attendance, including a representative of Italian National Cybersecurity Agency, ACN, which is responsible for the national implementation of the NIS2 Directive.

The EASA team enjoyed lively exchanges with the Italian colleagues and collected interesting inputs to be considered for the future development of AMC/GM.
