One question I have is how to get approved for maintenance and inspections on hot air balloons - holding maintenance certificates from two balloon manufacturers and a Part 66 theoretical exemption for Cat A, B1, B2 and B3, only have to build practice hours within a Part M organisation to receive my licence.
The answer from the NAA is that under current regulations there are no requirements to meet, that I should follow a training program within a current maintenance facility ... although there are in my country no facilities offering a training program because all staff got certified through grandfather rights. Is there another solution than starting a Part M myself?
Hi Stefan! Thank you. I am truly amazed by the speed you can answer to this matter. I have been asking these questions to the BCAA for over two years, and they can't even work up to any meaningful reply. Where can I find information on modules 9L, 10L and 11L or how can I get in contact with your expert? Credits obtained on modules 9A, 9B, 10 and 11C already.

Hello everyone!
What is the way to get involved in and to contribute to the EASA GA community?
As a young graduate in aeronautical engineering and holding a commercial balloon pilot license with interests in Air Operations, Human Factors and Meteorology, etc I would like to contribute to aviation, put my expertise at the service of the community, share experiences and learn from others to improve the future of GA.
HI Brent, Great! If you are interested to contribute in other ways, also write us a quick email on safetypromotion@easa.europa.eu
we can then further explore some possible ideas as well.

Dear all,
Some Member States allow crediting of hours flown with Annex I (former Annex II) aircraft but there is legal uncertainty about this practice, this is why EASA has led a Task Force together with the Member States to prepare amendments to Regulation (EU) 1178/2011 and associated acceptable means of compliance (AMC). These amendments will establish the conditions for the crediting of hours flown on certain Annex I – aircraft. This should be discussed during the EASA Committee planned in February 2019

Dear Marcia,
We fully agree with you! Too much text... We were trapped by the complexity of the issue. We have acknowledged the mistake and the next issue (planned mid-December) should be better.

Guillaume Féral (F), Paolo Pocobelli (I) and Mike Lomberg (SA) all three paraplegics have just started an incredible aventure: Fly around the world with two CTLS aircraft modified to significantly extand their fuel capacity.
EASA and FOCA were involved in approving Flight Conditions and issuing Permit to Fly.
They started two days ago and just landed in Greece. You can follow their journey on their website:

I made a very interesting experience with collegues from Austro-Control last week, when visiting AMST, a company designing and producing impressive flight simulators.
I could experiment the UPRT (Upset Recovery Training Capability) of a PC7 and B737 FSTD and I was quite impressed. The PC7 version is implemented in a spacial disoriantation machine which is really expanding a lot what we can do witn FSTD. It was the first time I could spin in the cloud...
Congratulations to AMST!
*Sorry, the photo is not GA related, the PC7 would have been a better choice :)
Dear Dominique I hope to get soon the chance to repeat in a rea PC-7 as well.

Dear Dominique,
can you please put the Part M references on your statement, it will be much easier to understand.
Thank you.

Help us getting more data on GA
Dear Aircraft Owner or Operator,
There is agreement that Europe has no statistical data about the General Aviation (GA) fleet which would allow profound safety and economic analyses. So far most analyses in GA depend on estimates and expert judgement, which is far from being ideal and one of the main reasons for a high level of overregulation in the GA industry. In the USA such data exists, generated by both the FAA and the GA User Associations, consequently the NALL-report as well as other Safety Analyses and Economic Impact Assessments can be based on statistical facts.
This survey was created in order to collect meaningful statistical Data for European GA. IAOPA made a first attempt in 2014 with good success, about 1500 operators and 3500 pilots replied. This data, however, is outdated, and geographically it covered mainly the European Core Area, so it´s time for a new initiative, which we started in a cooperation with the associations EBAA (European Business Aviation Association) and GAMA (General Aviation Manufacturers Association).
It will take you 10 – 15 minutes to fill out the survey. If you don´t have the precise figures at hand, your estimates are sufficient. For operators which operate a fleet of different aircraft types, we recommended to run the survey for each aircraft type. If more than one aircraft of similar type is operated, the survey can be executed with average data for these aircraft in order to save time. For questions you can contact us under info@aopa.de. So far we have already received 1200 replies.
Your data will be protected and only be shared with other GA Associations, European and National European Authorities, which will have confirmed to meet the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to use it solely for Safety and Economic Analyses. Your data will not be given to other third parties.
We intend to create a representative sample of aircraft operators in order to do a continuous trend-monitoring. If you intend to participate in this project, please give us your contact-data at the end of the survey.
Thank you very much for your time and effort. With your support, you are helping to make General Aviation safer and more economical.
