Hello everyone, I hope you are all safe. Could you guys from EASA tell, what one need to perform sightseeing flights with GA (non-complex) aircraft? Is AOC necessary, or an SPO declaration would be sufficient? Many thanks for answer !
Hello Martin,
for sightseeing flights with passenger, you will need an "A-A AOC" at least in Germany. It is not that complicated to get one, it depends on aircraft and the area/legs you want to fly.
To get a "A to B AOC" is quite more difficult and it will take longer to get everything (books, checklists, postholders, etc.) certified. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Stay healthy!
Michael

In the latest Learning Objectives I can find (https://www.easa.europa.eu/sites/default/files/dfu/appendix_to_amc_gm_t…), why are there differences (e.g. page 11) between the CB-IR and BIR? This should be basic knowledge for all ratings, right? E.g. how to close a flight plan... Has an X been forgotten on a few rows?

Greetings from Greece . Is there any form for General Aviation (either aeroclubs or privately owned aircrafts) that is a manifest of passengers (who , what relation and other personal details) that are used in any EU CAA Authority ? There's the good old General Declaration but beyond that is any other form imposed for passengers that embark on a training or recreational flight (NCOs in particular).
I didn’t see a General Declaration in decades but in the last few months, flying into Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia, I became aware of it being (mis)used for purposes beyond the customs procedures. In said countries it is required to be filled out as both a crew and passenger manifest and is required in order to to be allowed access to the SRA and CSRA at all - even if no flight is intended! From the question I gather that this (mis)practice may also encompass Greece? In answer to the question: No I don’t now of a standardised form for GA to serve as a passenger manifest. If not in all of Europe, then surely for any flight within EU there is no (or rather should not be any) need for a Gen Dec either as free movement of persons and goods is part of the basic liberties in the EU and EEC.

Thanks John and your team, this is an important issue, even during wintertime. The owner of an aircraft has important functions given, and this is one of that. The important decisions for safety is to say NO, if you are not competent/experienced or feel uncomfortable. We need well trained and experienced Part66 staff and organisations as a helping hand for safety.
