Hi everybody,
we would like to equip our planes (Beech 350) with PBE. Can someone advise me if the PBE installation needs to be approved (STC atc.). Thank you
Hello Vlastimil, you don't need STC for PBE as long as they're not physically attached to the airplane. We put our PBE behind the CPT seat in our B350. If NCC ops you're not required to have one on board.
Regards
We would consider the PBE Hoods fix installation as a Major Change (STC) by following reasons:
1. ICA effected as the PBE is a time limited item and requires regular inspection
2. CS-MMEL Supplement is required
3. Safety Item
Dear all, thank you for your comments. Kelly: Is it possible to carry a PBE behind the CPT seat without DG approval. I think that PBE is declared as Dangerous goods. We provide SPO and NCC operations and plan to use a PBE as additional safety device.
Hello Vastimil. We have Air Liquide PBE's in ours B350s in CAT, which is a compressed oxygen type PBE. You don't need DG approval to carry a PBE for crews in your B350. My understanding is that PBEs when shipped together via cargo for example are considered DG (UN 3072, CL9). But all safety devices to be used by crew members in an aircraft cannot be considered toward a requirement for DG approval. Hope this helps!
Hi Vlastimil,
It is smoke hood type PBE, isn't it?
Is it CAT or NCC type of operation?
Best regards

We have 4 fixed PBEs installed on our King Air 350s (SPO-Operation). Installation was done by Aerodata in Germany.
