first : this is my first post here..please be patient with me and possibly drive me for the future. Let us go to my question: I need advice on maintenance altimeter check for a German registered aircraft under 2 tons private and certified IFR.
somebody told me that it must be done every two years ,other sources report that it is not needed being private and below 2 tons

No, you no longer need....legally. However, in IFR, you have 2 altimeters. As long as they say the same thing, especially on ground, that's OK. Make sure you check that before takeoff. Once one differs from the other , or fails to indicate proper ground elevation by more of 50ft, stop flying the plane and have it fixed.

You don't necessarily have two altimeters as that's not a requirement in part-NCO. If you do have two altimeters, you can't expect them to show the same as each of them individually has an acceptable error of ±60 feet. (not 50). (Including QNH roundoff errors.)
