Good morning everyone!

I would like to know your opinion about: AMC1 CAT.OP.MPA.107 Adequate aerodrome.

In GM1 CAT.OP.MPA.107 Adequate aerodrome:
RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTING SERVICES (RFFS)
Guidance on the assessment of the level of an aerodrome’s RFFS may be found in Attachment I to ICAO Annex 6 Part I.

This point into Annex 6 Part I, is possible operate with one, two and three categories below the aeroplane RFFS category but, is necesary a risk assessment befor implemented (obviously).

My petion is:

Somebody did the risk assessment categories below the aeroplane RFFS category and can share it with us?
I would like to see how are identified the risk.

Best regards and thanks a lot for your cooperations and help!

Acaymo.

Hi Acaymo,

I am afraid you misunderstood, you can only degrade by one. The two and three are for takeoff or landing ALTERNATE aerodromes.

Nevertheless in attachment I (letter i), in chapter 3.1.3, the manual gives you some guidance for what kind of risks you must look at and what mitigations to use. Since it will be a deviation from you OM-A, you will have to get this approved by you competent authority as well. I would therefore suggest you contact your dedicated inspector already.

I would also suggest that you carry out a Management of Change, to identify the scope of the operation (fly to an airport with downgraded RFFS category), identify the risks and assess them, them set mitigations.

Also, bear in mind that the destination aerodrome may refuse to have you (ref. ICAO annex 14).

I hope it helps.

Good morning Sergio,

Thank you very much for your comments.

I developed a little "matrix" where Flight Crew (FC), Flight Dispatcher (DSP) and Technical Office can check it before will be applied a category below the levels. This matrix will be wrote in OM(A) and the restrictions detailed in 3.1.3 point into Annex 6 - Attachment I.

Best regards!

Acaymo.
