EASA has launched the European Aero-Medical Repository (EAMR), adding an additional tool to enhance flight safety by allowing traceability of commercial pilots’ medical certificates. The repository is intended to help aero-medical examiners (AMEs) to fulfil their obligations and provides support to the National authorities with their oversight and administrative work in the field of aviation medicine for commercial aviation. Dear John, all,
thank you for the information.
Following this update on the Medical side, I was wondering if anyone know what is the status of the digitization of crew licenses that I believe started in 2018/2019.
Electronic crew licenses would have numerous benefits for crews, operators and NAA.

I do not like the EASA approach regarding European Aero-Medical Repository (EAMR). Who has access to the "repository", where is it physically located and how is access granted?
"(...) recommended to find a balance between medical confidentiality and public safety and to create a European aeromedical data repository to facilitate the sharing of aeromedical information and tackle the issue of pilot non-declaration. (...)"
During my last couple medical checks, it was always a tackle to get the medical from national AA, so if EASA wants to centralize it, I bet there will be some colleagues who will not receive their medical due to computer errors or due to "repository" issues.
Why not keep it as it is? What will be the benefit?
Looking forward to receive an answer on that.
Stay healthy and always happy landings!

Dear John,
Thanks for the infos. Sorry, but I do not understand the EASA approach on the EAMR. All EASA nations will follow their national agencies. Which means if I go to the AME to get my medical it will be sent to my national AA where my licence is originated. So why the approach with the EASA wide EAMR, or do I miss something? Thank you very much for clarification! Take care and stay healthy.
Michael

Dear Michael, the EAMR has been the result of a huge cross industry effort and was a key recommendation from the Germanwings Task Force and the French BEA's investigation. The standardisation approach at European Level and ability to exchange information when needed is a key part of it. Hope that helps.
