Hi everyone. Can someone give precise information on whether the CMM and SMM need to be combined into one manual, the OMM? Where can I also find this type of answer? Thank you!
Hi Tamara,
We also recently updated ours - in general it doesn’t matter to the CAA and is up to you to either combine those or create two individual manuals.
As a personal recommendation - I would keep it separate; it makes it easier when it comes to updating those manuals.
I think the regulation 965/2012 [ORO.MLR.100 Operations manual – general] with the following AMC should be the relevant part for your question.
…
(c) The OM may be issued in separate parts.
…
(a) The operations manual (OM) may vary in detail according to the complexity of the operation and of the type and number of aircraft operated.
…
So no need in my opinion, just a possibility. Your choice.
Hello Tamara!
You can find the answer from the AMC concerning management system documentation: AMC1 ORO.GEN.200(a)(5) from Air Operations Regulation or AMC1 ORA.GEN.200(a)(5) from Aircrew Regulation, depending if you’re an AOC/NCC operator or ATO respectively. In short, it's up to you decide if you want to keep them in one manual or separated. My personal advice: if in your organisation the same person holds both Safety Manager and Compliance Monitoring Manager positions, keep them in one manual.
Hi Tamara, you can definitely combine them into one OMM. We have done so and are happy about it. Having a complex organization, it is good to have all in one place, making it easier to control regulation and organization changes.
