Hi All,
Is there anyone here that operates on the MIP for an ELA1 aircraft. We have 3 Cessna 172s in our group that are all on the MIP and each aircraft completes approx 200 hours per year. The Pitot Static functional check requires a B2 Engineer with extensive equipment to "record results". Cessna only require this check every 2 years but in the case of the MIP its every 100 hours. Anyone have any guidance, this is costing around 700euro each time a B2 comes with the calibration equipment? Thank you

No problem you can in the AMP define that you will not do that check but only as necessary, that is why every CAMO / CAO requires that the owners sign the AMP, just like the propeller OH, you do not need to do that every 5 years

In accordance to GM1 ML.A.302(c)(3), "These alternative maintenance actions shall not be less restrictive than those set out in the applicable MIP.". This means that if in the MIP you need to perform a F/T every year or 100hrs, you can't deviate from it by means of a 2yrs or 200hrs inspection. We have the same problem with the radio for which a "ground function test." is required. Hve a look to the examples of the GM and it's clearly written.

Thanks, that does not provide the guidance I need. I am not taking about a one-time interval extensions, I cannot deviate to less than the MIP.

@helidoktor the CAMO may deviate the AMP when the DAH data is used but must never be less than the MIP, hence the name Minimum Inspection. The only option I see is to perform a F/T every 100 hours.

In my view, a B2 egineer should not be necessary for the pitot/static functional check. For the C172 an aproprialety rated L2-Engineer should be sufficient, as described in 66.A.20 (a)(6) in combination with the definition of a simple test described in GM 66.A.60(a)

The issue is not really the B2 or B1 or L rated engineer, getting the calibrated equipment in Ireland to perform this functional check is impossible. GM1 ML.A.302(c)(3) refers to the table for the deviation of the task. If a functional check is required by the MIP, an alternative test may not be less than the MIP (carry out the test every 12 months or 100 hours).
