Requirements for Air Traffic Services updated

EASA publishes a so-called Opinion on ‘Requirements for Air Traffic Services (ATS)’.

The Opinion proposes a broad set of organisation and technical requirements to provide Air Traffic Control Services, Flight Information Services and Alerting Services.

The objective to harmonise the safe provision of such services throughout the EASA Member States. The proposed rules are transposed mainly from the relevant Air Traffic Services requirements from the International Civil Aviation Organization and are adapted to the EU regulatory framework and service provision context.

The Opinion will serve as a basis for the European Commission to adopt amendments to the Air Traffic Management/Air Navigation Services Regulation.
