EASA introduces more competency-based requirements for the multi-crew pilot licence advanced-phase training

With Opinion 16/2016, EASA proposes an amendment to the multi-crew pilot licence (MPL) training. The proposal creates the possibility to reduce the minimum number of take-offs and landings from 12 to 6, provided that a procedure is in place to ensure that a catch-up process is in place to cover for any training deficiencies. This amendment will lead to a greater alignment with ICAO Annex 1 requirements and enable approved training organisations (ATOs) and respective operators to make the MPL course more competency-based.
