EASA certifies the Airbus A321neo

On 15 December 2016,  the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified the Airbus A321neo (technical name: A321-271N), the latest member of the new neo (new engine option) Airbus Single Aisle family. The Type Certificate was handed over by Large Transport Aeroplanes Section Manager David Solar to Airbus’ Executive Vice President Engineering, Charles Champion in Hamburg/Germany today. Mr Champion underlined that this certification is a testimony of the efficient and positive cooperation between EASA and Airbus which has been established over the recent years. The concurrent FAA validation was achieved on the same day.

The Airbus A321neo successfully completed a rigorous certification programme which tested its airframe and systems well beyond their design limits to ensure the aircraft successfully meets highest safety standards set by EASA for Europe. The new model is now cleared for its first deliveries and ready to enter into service. The aircraft is equipped with the Pratt and Whitney Pure Power PW1100G-JM engine. The neo family will continue to grow until 2018 with additional models.
