Description
On 29-30 August 2019 EASA will host the Workshop on Dynamic Modeling and Simulation in the certification process.
Immediately preceding this workshop, the SAE SEAT committee will be meeting in the same location.
We will spend some time reviewing the recently published FAA AC 20-146A, Methodology for Dynamic Seat Certification by Analysis for Use in Parts 23, 25, 27, and 29 Airplanes and Rotorcraft and discussing how it can apply to current and future seat certification projects. Updates will also be provided regarding SAE ARP 5765A and ASME V&V. Discussions will then be expanded to the question, is there a path whereby a seat can be certified numerically without certification tests and only with validation tests? If so, what would be needed to accomplish this and what would it look like?
We will continue our discussions on plans for developing a future master AC that covers the use of Dynamic modeling and simulation for other applications, including, birdstrike, engines, drone impacts, other.
We will also address the differences between Verification, Validation, and Calibration.
