Description
The workshop is open to all interested stakeholders.
The amending regulations introducing the new Operational Suitability Data (OSD) rules are expected to be published in January 2014. This is the closure of rulemaking task 21.039 that started end of 2006 and is an important milestone in the first extension package.
The principle of OSD is that the aircraft manufacturers are required to establish certain data that is considered important for safe operation of the type. This data will be approved by the Agency under the type certificate and is then used by operators and training organisations. The data consists of the master minimum equipment list (MMEL), type specific data for training of pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance crew as well as data for validation of simulators. The OSD is expected to contribute to closing the gap between airworthiness and operations. It is an important new rule, expected to have a positive impact on safety. The new rules will impact aircraft manufacturers, designers of modifications, operators and training organisations.
Now that the rule is in its final shape EASA is organising this workshop to ease the implementation of the new rules.
