The Continuing Airworthiness Section of the Product Safety Department is organising a workshop to present the latest changes proposed by an NPA to be published by the end of August 2014, as part of the task RMT.0281 (MDM.082), whose objective is the amendment of Regulation (EC) No 2042/2003, mainly Part-66 and Part-147, in order to:
- introduce (in addition to the traditional teaching methods) e-learning (or any digitalised tutor devices at the training facilities), Distance Learning or Web-Based Training (WBT) (at home or remote from the Training Organisations), Multimedia-Based Training (MBT), and other teaching methods and technologies, including the use of Maintenance (Simulation) Training Devices (MSTD and MTD) and practical training on virtual training devices, for the benefit of maintenance staff’s training;
- consider the potential impacts of these new teaching methods and technologies on the training in terms of content, level, duration, learning objectives, competence to be gained, documentation, assessment, examination and examiners, benefits and limits for the practical tasks.
The proposed changes are expected to fulfil Industry’s needs for efficient and cost effective training of maintenance certifying staff, while maintaining or increasing the level of safety.
