Description
EASA/FAA invites those involved in sandwich structure design, production, and/or in-service activities, to the EASA/FAA Sandwich Structure meeting to be held in Cologne 18th October 2016.
EASA is hosting the CMH-17 Disbond/Delamination Task Group working meetings during this week and wishes to use this opportunity for the TG to share progress and information regarding its work with a broader audience.
Draft Agenda
- Regulator Introductions and Presentations (FAA/EASA)
- CMH-17 Disbond/Delamination TG progress presentations
- Several industry presentations addressing sandwich structures
- Draft EASA Sandwich Structure CM Review: Discuss industry responses to a draft EASA CM addressing the use of sandwich structures in critical single load path monocoque structure applications. This CM is due for release for public comment very soon and will hopefully have progressed to the Comment Response Document (CRD ) stage by the time of the meeting.
Note: The content of the draft CM was developed in conjunction with ENAC and is simply intended to remind all applicants of the important points regarding the safe design and use of sandwich structures, particularly those used in monocoque structures, and to encourage good practices to ensure that all potentially critical damage modes have been identified and a robust structure is produced. - Potential development of sandwich structure standards: The intent is to use the opportunity presented by this group of experienced engineers being together to identify potential sandwich configurations, applications, and damage modes which would benefit from future R&D and standards development. You will be welcome to propose such ideas before the meeting and/or bring suggestions to the meeting for discussion
If interested, can you please respond to this invitation as soon as possible, but not later than 12th September 2016, in order to allow EASA to prepare for the meeting? Please send your response to angela.cojocaru [at] easa.europa.eu (angela[dot]cojocaru[at]easa[dot]europa[dot]eu).
Due to limited seating capacity, EASA will need to give priority to those who respond first.
