2017 EASA–FAA International Safety Conference

Global aviation safety for a global industry

The 2017 EASA-FAA International Aviation Safety Conference will be held in Brussels from 14-16 June 2017.

The conference will bring senior aviation professionals from regulators, manufacturers, airlines and associations together from all world regions to discuss global aviation safety issues from the perspective of both the regulators and industry.

On the program for the first day, the plenary session will bring together representatives from industry and regulators from three different continents to discuss the importance of building and maintaining mutual trust.

This discussion will followed up on the second day by panel discussions on the following topics:

  • A Strategic Look at Rulemaking - Cooperation for Emerging Technologies
  • Establishing a Collaborative Framework to Advance Aviation Safety
  • Challenge of digitalisation
  • Challenges and Opportunities: Aircraft and Engine Certification and Oversight
  • Ramp inspection programmes: the way forward
  • Challenges and Opportunities: New CNS/ATM Technologies and Safety

The plenary session on the second day will discuss the challenge of developing Performance Based Regulations (PBR) without jeopardizing the fundamentals that have made aviation so safe.

The technical sessions on the third day will focus on the following topics:

  • Challenges and Opportunities in New Technology
  • Regulator and Industry Collaborative Efforts
  • Challenges and Opportunities: Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS)
  • Defining a way forward for manufacturer (U.S., EU, and others) to comply with EASA’s Operational Suitability Data (OSD) requirements
