EASA has been informed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the United Kingdom (CAA-UK) that a number of components for Pratt & Whitney JT8D series engines have been stolen from a facility in that country. Although the parts were stolen, EASA was informed by the UK CAA that the associated paperwork was not stolen. After reviewing the available information, EASA has concluded that these parts should be considered as unapproved for use, due to the possibility of criminal action involved in the declaration of those parts. This SIB is published to ensure that all owners, operators and manufacturers of aircraft, that have JT8D series engines installed, are aware of this information.
